The CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) course usually takes one day to complete and can be taken from either the Redditch or Birmingham training facility. The day is broken down into five elements:
The CBT is a basic training course and is required by law if you want to ride a moped or motorcycle on the road; it is not an attendance course. The issue of a CBT (DL196) certificate means you have achieved a safe and satisfactory riding standard during the motorcycle training and can now ride your motorbike unaccompanied on the road putting into practice what you have been taught. If for some reason you do not reach the required standard on the day, further CBT motorcycle training will be necessary in order to obtain a certificate. |
If you are not a road user, it is vital that you read and understand the Highway Code prior to attending the CBT course. We strongly advise that you know what all road signs mean and understand the rules of the road, for your own safety and for the safety of other road users. Riding in places like Birmingham and Redditch can be demanding.
The CBT certificate is valid for two years, if you do not pass your motorcycle test during this period, you must complete another CBT course to continue riding legally on the road. When you choose to do your on-road motorcycle training with us you can join our exclusive RMT Riders Club. This will give you access to our members only forum where you can get detailed information on passing your motorcycle tests, including video footage of how to pass the Module One test. Also available is information and tips on how to pass the Module Two test and riding techniques for Post Test Training and group riding. |
